MA ranks as the fourth best state in the U.S. for women
Massachusetts is one of the best states in the country for women.
According to a recent study completed by WalletHub, Massachusetts is the fourth best state in the U.S. for women.
“In 2017, women in some parts of America still get the short end of the stick — even as they outnumber men in all but six states. For instance, women represent nearly two-thirds of all minimum-wage workers in the U.S. They also constituted the majority of poor, uninsured adults in the 19 states that had not expand their Medicaid programs under the Affordable Care Act as of September 2016,” said WalletHub.
Massachusetts ranks 7th for women’s economic and social well-being and 2nd for women’s health and safety.
According to the study, Massachusetts also has the fourth lowest female homicide rate in the country.
The Rankings
Minnesota is ranked as the best state for women while Vermont, North Dakota, Massachusetts and New Hampshire round out the top five.
Mississippi is ranked as the worst state in the country for women.

The Method
To find the best states for women, WalletHub’s analysts compared the 50 states and the District of Columbia across two key dimensions, including “Women’s Economic & Social Well-Being” and “Women’s Health & Safety.”
They examined those dimensions using 19 metrics. Each metric was graded on a 100-point scale, with a score of 100 representing the most favorable conditions for women.
WalletHub then calculated the overall score for each state and the District based on its weighted average across all metrics and used the resulting scores to construct the final ranking.

Lisa Piehler

Stone founded Precision Engineering with her husband Peter in 1988. Located in Uxbridge, Precision Engineering focuses on custom metal sheet fabrication.
The company has grown to include 40,000 square feet of manufacturing, assembly and warehousing space, encompassing two physical plants within Quaker Industrial Park.

Susan Engelkemeyer

Paula Rooney

Kristin Carvalho
