MA State Police Release Policies for Marathon Monday

On Monday, the Massachusetts State Police released policies for spectators of next week's Boston Marathon.

The MA State Police are asking for cooperation from all attending the race to follow "reasonable and common sense guidelines that will help ensure the safety and security of all participants, volunteers and spectators."

According the State Police, spectators of the marathon should expect a significant police presence along the marathon's course. Spectators can expect security checpoints and law enforcement personnel may ask to inspect belongings.

The state police are asking all spectators to carry their iems in clear plastic bags to enhance public safety and to move security screenings along quickly. 

The Boston Athletic Association and all public safety agencies are encouraging attendees to participate in the ‘See Something, Say Something’ campaign. Spectators are asked to be aware of their surroundings and to report suspicious conduct or items to the closest public safety official or by calling 9-1-1.
