The identity of the individual will be withheld due to the comprehensive domestic violence law that the Massachusetts state legislature passed.
The Incident
On Sunday, December 25, at approximately 12:15 a.m., multiple police units responded to a house on Marlboro Street for a report of a man threatening family members with a gun. Upon arrival, five of the victims were standing outside the home. Police were told that the suspect and three other family members were still inside.
According to the victims, the incident occurred when the man, 24, became angry with some family members and kicked one of the victims in the head and shoulder area. The suspect then proceeded to draw a gun from his waistband and threaten his family. The suspect waved the firearm in all directions while the victims attempted to flee from the suspect. Some of the victims locked themselves in a bathroom on the second floor of the home. The suspect banged on the bathroom door and continued to make threats. The victims were able to escape from bathroom and exit the dwelling when the suspect decided to go into the basement.
Officers made contact with the three family members who remained in the house. The family members were able to exit the home without incident. These family members told police that they attempted to calm down the suspect. There were no injuries reported among the victims.
Members of the SWAT Team, Crisis Intervention Team and negotiators arrived on scene. The officers were able to enter the house and arrest the suspect without incident.
Officers found three loaded guns in the suspect’s bedroom. The firearms were not properly stored.
