Man Hit by Car on Chandler Street in Worcester

Friday, February 09, 2018

A man is in stable condition after being hit by a car in area of Chandler Street late Wednesday night.

This investigation is ongoing; no citations have been issued at this time.

The Incident

On Wednesday, February 7, at approximately 10:22 p.m., Worcester Police responded to a pedestrian and motor vehicle accident in the area of 107 Chandler Street. Arriving officers observed a 36-year-old man in the westbound lane of Chandler Street. The pedestrian was conscious and alert and complaining of head, neck, and lower back pain.

The victim was stabilized at the scene by Worcester EMS and then transported to a local hospital for treatment. The pedestrian is in stable condition.

The operator of the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado remained at the scene and spoke with investigators.

The preliminary investigation indicated that the vehicle was traveling west on Chandler Street, coming from Main Street. The vehicle was in the right lane. As the vehicle passed Golden Pizza, the pedestrian walked in between two parked cars and into the right side westbound travel lane.

The impact sent the pedestrian up and onto the hood and into the windshield. The pedestrian rolled off the Chevrolet and came to rest in the westbound lane of the Chandler Street.

The Chevrolet was towed from the scene and secured. Recon investigators will be conducting a full mechanical inspection to determine if any mechanical deficiencies were a contributing factor leading up to impact.
