Man Seriously Injured After Crashing Moped Into Parked Van

A man was seriously injured after crashing his Moped into a parked van in the area of Clement Street in Worcester. 

This investigation is ongoing, to date, there have been no citations issued at this time.

The Incident 

On Monday, October 22,  at approximately 3:22 p.m., Worcester Police Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the area of 14 Clement Street for a reported single Moped accident.

According to the officer, an 18-year-old man was driving a 2014 Taotao 50 moped west on Clement Street when he looked over his shoulder for a moment and drove directly into the rear cargo door of a 2010 Chevrolet van.

The van was unoccupied at the time of the collision and was legally parked.

Recon investigators were further informed by the officer that when he arrived at the scene the male operator was receiving emergency medical care from members of the Worcester Fire Department and from Worcester EMS.

The victim was stabilized at the scene and then transferred to a local hospital for treatment. His current condition is unknown at this time but the operator did receive serious face and neck injuries. His injuries appear to be non-life threatening.
