Man Shot During High School Graduation Party in Worcester

Monday, June 12, 2017

A man was shot in the ribs during a fight at a high school graduation party on Narragansett Ave in Worcester.

The victim did not cooperate with police and was taken to the hospital where he is expected to survive.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Incident

On June 11 at about 12:30 a.m., police were sent to a Narragansett Ave address for a report of a large party that resulted in a shooting. Upon arrival, police discovered a chaotic scene with a large group still present. Police located a 38-year-old man with a gunshot in the lower rib area. The man was uncooperative, and was taken to the hospital by paramedics. He is expected to survive.

Police began speaking with witnesses. The party was for a high school graduation, and had about a hundred guests. Problems began when a small group showed up uninvited. After a dispute, the uninvited group began physically fighting with people present. During the fight, one of the uninvited people fighting shot the man once in the ribs. The uninvited group drove away and fired two more shots as they left. No one else was seriously injured.

The Detective Bureau and Crime Scene Unit responded, and evidence was located.
