Man Stabbed on Providence Street in Worcester During Fight

A man was stabbed in the chest during a fight in the area of a Providence Street apartment in Worcester.

The victim gave very little information about the incident.

As a result of police interview, a 20-year-old woman was placed under arrest for Misleading the investigation. The woman was or has been in a dating relationship with the victim.

As a result, the suspect’s name will not be released due to the new domestic violence laws that prohibit the release of named defendants and/or victims.

The Incident

On Saturday, April 22, at approximately 2:00 p.m., a Worcester EMS ambulance was driving on Providence Street when it was flagged down by a 22-year-old man suffering from a serious chest wound. At first, paramedics believed that the man was suffering from a gunshot wound. Paramedics immediately called police for assistance.

The man provided little information prior to losing consciousness.

Several police officers responded to the area of Providence Street and Harrison Street.

Arriving officers saw the victim being treated for what appeared to be a serious chest wound. Officers were told the victim was a priority one and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital. An officer followed the ambulance to the hospital.

The victim arrived at the emergency room unconscious.

Officers and paramedics were unable to obtain how the victim received his wounds. The victim was immediately taken into emergency surgery. According to medical personnel, the wounds suffered were caused by a stabbing and not a gunshot wound as initially reported. His condition is critical.

Police at the scene were able to track blood evidence back to a Providence Street apartment. Police found four people inside the apartment. It became apparent, based on additional evidence discovered at the location, that a fight had recently taken place. All occupants were eventually transported to police headquarters for questioning while the apartment was secured.
