Marathon Explosion: Massachusetts Officials React

Monday, April 15, 2013

Explosions went off on Boylston Street, at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. GoLocalWorcester is getting the reactions of Massachusetts officials.

Congressman Stephen Lynch:

“I am terribly saddened by today’s news. Right now we need to let the trained emergency personnel do their jobs to ensure that there are no other threats, and that we can get a better sense of what happened. No matter who or what is responsible, this is a terrible tragedy for our city and our nation. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been injured today."

US Senator Mo Cowan:

“My prayers are with those injured and lost in today’s horrific events. As this situation continues to develop and our first responders continue their effort to ensure the safety of our friends and family in Boston, there are still far more questions than answers. I have been in contact with Governor Patrick, and my office has been in touch with staff at the White House and in Mayor Menino's office. I will continue to work closely with our federal partners to ensure that appropriate federal assistance will be provided as soon as possible,” said Senator William “Mo” Cowan. “Tonight, I ask everyone in Massachusetts to follow the guidance of the Boston Police Commissioner and Governor Patrick to stay safe.”
