slides: Massachusetts Beers Wins Big in US Open Beer Championships

Four native Massachusetts brewing companies, including Wormtown Brewery from Worcester, recently received top honors at the annual United States Open Beer Championship in Atlanta.

Wormtown received honors in four separate categories. It received a silver medal in the German Hefeweizen category for MassWhole; and bronzes in the Porter and the Imperial IPA categories for Pro-Am Porter and Hopulence American Double IPA. In addition, MassWhole Hefe Weizen was listed as 8th by the judges in the "Most Creative Name" competition.

Other Massachusetts brewing companies honored included Boston Beer Company, Mystic Brewing, and Harpoon Brewing. See a complete list of Massachusetts beers honored below.

In total, 2500 beers from around the world representing 68 different categories were represented at the US Open.
