Man Dies Following Motorcycle and Pickup Truck Accident in Worcester

Worcester Police are investigating a motorcycle and pickup truck accident that resulted in the death of a 21-year-old man on Friday night in the on Lincoln Street.

The exact cause of death is pending the results of the post mortem examination.

This investigation is in the early stages. No citations have issued at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Incident

On Friday, September 23, 2016 at approximately 5:30 PM, Worcester Police responded to the area of 463 Lincoln Street for a report of a pickup truck and motorcycle accident. Upon the officers arrival they saw a large crowd gathered around a 21-year-old man who was lying unconscious on the ground under a 2012 Dodge Ram Pickup Truck.

Officers at the scene provided emergency medical care until Worcester EMS arrived at the scene.

The man was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 7:58 p.m.

The Worcester Police Department Crash Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene and took over of the investigation. Investigators secured the scene and processed evidence. Both vehicles were towed to police headquarters and will be inspected for any mechanical deficiencies.

The preliminary investigation shows that the driver of the motorcycle (2001 Yamaha YZFR1) was traveling northeast in the area of 463 Lincoln Street when it collided with the Dodge pickup truck that was traveling southwest. The driver of the truck, a 44-year-old Sterling resident, was in the process of turning into a local business when the collision happened.

The motorcycle struck the front right corner of the truck.

Also in the truck was the driver’s 16-year-old son. Both occupants of the truck were unhurt.
