National Ranking: How Does Worcester Rank for Young Adults?

A new national study finds that Worcester ranks better than many of its peer cities in New England. The study issued by the Business Journals across the United States ranked 102 cities.

How did the Business Journals rank the cities?

Population growth (April 2010-July 2011)
Long-term private-sector employment growth (December 2007-December 2012)
Short-term private-sector employment growth (December 2011-December 2012)
Per capita income (2011)
Long-term income growth (2006-2011)
Share of all residents who are between the ages of 18 and 34 (2011)
Annual unemployment rate for workers between the ages of 16 and 34 (2011)
Share of householders under the age of 45 with household incomes of $150,000 or more (2011; the Census Bureau defines a householder as a person in whose name a house or apartment is bought or rented)
Share of people between the ages of 18 and 34 who hold bachelor’s degrees (2011)
Median rent (2011)
