NEW: Arrest Made In Assumption College Bomb Threat
Friday, October 17, 2014
The Worcester Police have arrested 21-year-old Mohammed Braimah of Hyde Park on Friday, October 17th around 12:54 AM on warrants for the following offenses: intimidation of a witness, bomb threat, bomb threat causing evacuation, and disruption.
“Thanks to the information discovered through [the police] investigation, a suspect is now in custody,” Assumption College President Francesco Cesareo said in a statement. “The College has full confidence in the expertise of the Worcester District Attorney’s Office to fairly and fully prosecute this individual.”
The investigation revealed that the email originated from an IP address that services a building in Boston. The email was sent from a fraudulent email account that was set up with personal identifying information that seemed to implicate a student that was currently attending Assumption College.
The Worcester Police Cyber Crime Unit of the Detective Bureau was able to link Mr. Braimah – who was expelled from Assumption College after several incidents - to the crimes.
During the investigation, Worcester Police partnered with Massachusetts State Police and Assumption College Police.
