Residents of North Oxford can now enjoy an expanded Walmart that will include a full grocery, pharmacy and a vision center.

The renovated store officially opened this morning at its location on Main Street in North Oxford with a ribbon cutting ceremony. Store manager Danny Eshoo handed out checks from Walmart to multiple local charities and organizations, including the Oxford Police Department.

The store features an additional 10,000 square feet to house the new grocery store with full bakery, deli and produce section. There are now over 30 merchandise departments in the expanded Walmart, but Eshoo believes a streamlined layout will make navigating the Walmart easy.

“The layout of the store is easy to navigate, which will save customers time as they shop for everyday necessities at our unbeatable prices,” Eshoo said. “By grouping the products that our customers most often purchase we are making one-stop shopping even easier.”

The expanded Walmart is expected to add 85 new jobs to North Oxford and employ approximately 300 associates in total. The stores renovations also come with several environmentally friendly additions, including efficient LED lighting, along with low-flow toilets and faucets in the restrooms.

“Joining Walmart was a great career decision for me, as it has been for so many of my fellow associates,” Eshoo said. “I am proud to work for this company where there are unlimited opportunities and to bring those opportunities to our community and neighbors.”

“We have a loyal customer base, and some have been shopping here since our original opening,” Eshoo said. “We think they’ll love the new, easy-to-shop layout of the store and appreciate the savings we offer on the products they need.”
