NEW: MA Unemployment Up to 6.7 Percent in December

The Bay State added an estimated 7,500 jobs during the final month of 2012, but the Massachusetts total unemployment rate ticket up 0.1 percent to 6.7 percent in December, the state's Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development reported on Thursday.

Preliminary estimates for December from the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimated a total of 3,263,400 jobs in the Commonwealth. The estimated 7,500 jobs added in December follow a revised loss of 3,200 jobs in November.

Year-over-year, the state's unemployment rate was down 0.2 percent from 6.9 percent in December 2011. Compared to the prior year, jobs were up 51,600.
