NEW: Murray to Head Worcester Chamber

Lt. Governor Tim Murray is resigning his office as Lt. Governor and will take the position as CEO of the Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce, GoLocalWorcester has learned.

Murray will succeed Dick Kennedy who is set to retire. According to tax documents, Kennedy was paid $156,000 in 2011. Boston/CBS Local is reporting Murray will be paid $200,000.

The Chamber has been faced with difficult financial conditions over the past few years.

According to the most recent tax return information for the Chamber as reported on GuideStar, the Chamber ended the 2011 fiscal year with revenue $1,285,789, but reported total expenses $1,406,306.

Chamber Board to Vote Today

Approval of Murray, who also served as Mayor of Worcester will come before the Chamber board today at a lunch time closed meeting.
