NEW: Worcester Academy to Honor U.S. Rep. McGovern
Thursday, April 26, 2012
McGovern, a 1977 graduate of Worcester Academy, is now in his eighth term representing the 3rd Congressional District of Massachusetts. For his service in the United States House of Representatives, McGovern will receive the school’s Distinguished Alumnus Award.
Along with McGovern, well-known opera singer Philip Kalmanovitch will also receive the award. As a 2002 graduate of Worcester Academy and Worcester native, Kalmanovitch is another alum the academy is proud to welcome back.
““It is a honor to recognize these two outstanding alumni,” Head of School Dexter P. Morse said. “Each has made significant contributions in his chosen field and, at the same time, upheld the Worcester Academy motto, ‘Achieve the Honorable.’ We are pleased to count them among our own and to have them back on campus.”
The 2012 Reunion Festivities are set to run on April 27th and 28th. The two distinguished alumni will accept their awards during the awards presentation ceremony at the annual Reunion Dinner on Saturday evening. For more information, visit Worcester Academy’s website by clicking here.
