NEW: Worcester Mother Facing Several Charges After Child is Taken to Hospital

Chantal Nguyen, 22, of Worcester has been charged with permitting injury to a child, permitting substantial injury to a child and reckless endangerment of a child.

The charges come after Worcester police were notified that a 5-year old boy was transported to the hospital after school officials at his elementary  school noticed he was limping and had noticeable bruises.  The child was transported to the hospital where the Department of Children and Families was notified and took custody of the boy.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the child was still hospitalized and in stable condition.

The investigation continues.
