NH Man Arrested on 11 Offenses in Worcester After Fleeing State Police on I-290

Saturday, July 25, 2015

On Thursday afternoon, Massachusetts State Police officers arrested a 25-year-old man from Manchester, New Hampshire after the suspect was driving erratically at high speeds on I-495 in Marlborough and on I-290 into Worcester.

The driver, Nathan A. Doran, maneuvered through traffic at speeds of over 100 mph and changed lanes to pass vehicles, including driving in the breakdown lane, before a pursuit by State Police was terminated as Doran entered a congested construction zone on I-290 near College Square in Worcester.

Doran was then observed the vehicle on Route 20 westbound in Auburn. He exited the westbound lanes and began driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of Route 20 in the town of Oxford, approaching the Charlton town line. An attempt was made with a tire deflation device to disable the vehicle. Doran continued westbound until troopers were able to position their cruisers until he could no longer continue traveling.

Doran was placed under arrest and was transported to the Holden Barracks for booking. Doran was charged with the following 11 offenses:

  • OUI-Drugs
  • Failure to stop for police
  • Negligent operation of a motor vehicle
  • Wanton destruction of property, over $250
  • Resisting arrest
  • Unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle
  • State Highway – Wrong way violation
  • Fail to drive in the right lane
  • Marked lanes violation
  • Breakdown lane violation
  • Speeding

Doran was held on $1,000 bail pending his arraignment in Worcester District Court.
