Thursday, February 12, 2015
The North High School Parent Meeting, part of the North High Action Plan, is an opportunity for parents, students, and teachers to voice their opinion of changes that need to be made fo the safety of the kids that attend there.
Media is not allowed at the meeting to ensure parents' confidentiality and freedom to express themselves without being recorded.
According to a press release from Worcester Public Schools, "the goal of the meeting is to allow parents to learn about the North High Action Plan created by Worcester Public School and NHS administration, and to share their expectations and desires."
North High School principal Lisa Dyer and Superintendent Melinda Boone will begin the meeting with open remarks. Small groups of parents will meet with "community partners" and North High alumni to gather input.
Safety portions of the Action Plan have already been put into place at North including a present and visible police liaison, the hiring of an instructional assistant to monitor hallways and bathrooms, and a Lead Teacher for Safety and Accountabilty "has begun coordinating and monitory school safety efforts."
At next week's School Committee meeting, Dr.Boone will present "a summary of key themes generated by the various conversations," according to an email to school committee members.
