One Man is Dead Following Rollover Crash on Route 2

The driver, Daniel Rice, 51, of Fitchburg, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His passenger, a 37-year-old woman, also from Fitchburg, was transported to UMass Medical Center in Worcester for treatment of serious injuries.
There is no further information available at this time.
The Incident
Massachusetts State Troopers assigned to the Leominster Barracks responded to a one-car rollover crash on Route 2 westbound, east of Exit 30, in Fitchburg which resulted in one fatality on Tuesday night.
Preliminary investigation by Trooper Cameron Ortiz indicates that a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee was traveling on Route 2 westbound when, for reasons still under investigation, the operator lost control of the vehicle, causing it to rollover and crash. During the rollover, both the driver and passenger were ejected from the vehicle.
The cause of this crash remains under investigation.
