UPDATED: Oxford Crash Results in Death of Sturbridge Woman

Massachusetts State Troopers at the State Police Barracks in Sturbridge are currently investigating a multiple vehicle crash on Route 20 in the town of Oxford that has resulted in resulted in the death of a 31-year old Sturbridge woman driving a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier, life threatening injuries to an 8 month old boy, who was a passenger and serious injuries to a 24 month old boy, also a passenger. 

At approximately 8:30 a.m. a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier, operated by a 31 year old woman was traveling eastbound on route 20  when it crossed the center line and entered the westbound lane, where it collided with a cement truck. The impact from that collision re-directed the Cavalier back into the eastbound land, where it was struck by a sport utility vehicle. 

The female driver was determined deceased at the scene while the 8 month old boy is on life support at UMass Medical Center in Worcester, The second passenger, a 24-month old boy suffered serious injuries and is receiving emergency medical care at UMass Medical Center. 

The cement truck, owned by Sterling Concrete Corporation was operated by a 34-year old Oxford Man and rolled onto its side from the impact. The truck's operator was transported by ambulance to St. Vincent's Hospital in Worcester with non-incapacitating injuries. 

The third car in the collision was a 2000 Mercedes ML320 driven by a 55 year old Southbridge man. The driver and passenger, a 26 year old Southbridge resident were taken by ambulance to UMass Medical Center with non-incapacitating injuries. 

Names of the victims have not yet been released. 

Route 20 remains closed. Traffic is being diverted through Oxbow Rd and Richardson Corner.
