Right Now: Chandler and Franco Campaigns Both Optimistic

Tuesday, November 04, 2014

It's the calm before the storm, and the First Worcester District Senate Seat is up for grabs. Long time incumbent and Democrat Candidate Harriette Chandler is hoping to distance herself from her opponent during the evening rush of voters.  However, Republican Candidate Paul Franco is feeling confident with the way election day has gone so far.

Peter Levin, campaign manager for Franco, said, "Paul is cautiously optimistic. So far it's been great results with big numbers of voters and it's been busy. We've been hitting Great Brook Valley and covering most of Ward 2, but we are still hammering away."

In the Chandler camp, Campaign Manager David LeBoeuf said, “Things are going well. We just sent out more people to knock on doors. We are focusing on having Democrats make sure they get out to vote. Turnout has been steady. We’ve had a great reception on phones of independents voting straight democratic ticket.”

As far as how Franco handles his campaign presence around the polls today compared to Chandler, Levin said, “We are a bit more invigorated and active. She (Chandler) has had years of experience and supporters so it’s very significant that we continue canvassing, calling and holding signs. She’s working hard as she always does.”

“It’s going to come down to Worcester. It’s going to come down to how many people will have become familiar with our message," said Levin.

LeBoeuf believes Chandler is prepared for everything. “We’ve done everything we need to do. We are definitely earning every vote. Making sure we cover all of our bases. We’ve had a good relationship with the Coordinated Campaign of the Democratic Party and we’ve already had a footprint in each of the different towns.”

“Our campaign is about moving the Commonwealth forward and we are feeling a lot of positive energy," said LeBoeuf.
