The percentage of students that are chronically absent from school in Worcester is nearly 20 percent. Chronic absenteeism refers to students that miss 10% or more of the school year.

Over the past two school years, the percentage of students in Massachusetts that are chronically absent from school is 12.5 percent. 

Through 2013-2014 school year statistics from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, GoLocalWorcester has put together a list of the 25 secondary schools in Central Massachusetts with the worst chronic absenteeism problem.

Of the 25 schools chronic absenteeism issues, six of them are located in Worcester.
