Monday, February 27, 2017
The 18-year-old gave police very little information leaving officers with very limited suspect information.
The Incident
On Saturday, February 25, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Worcester Police responded to the area of 26 Freeland Street for a report of a man who had been shot in the leg. Upon arrival, officers were initially unable to locate the victim in the area. While on scene, officers were told by dispatch that the victim was now inside a nearby address on Freeland Street.
Police proceeded to the address and located an 18 year old man suffering from three gunshot wounds to his leg. The victim spoke briefly with officers on scene and appeared to be in stable condition. He was then taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
The victim told officers that he was walking on Freeland Street when he heard several gunshots and realized he had been shot in the leg. He then ran to a nearby friend’s house, but refused to provide police with the friend’s name. The victim gave minimal information to officers on scene and was less than cooperative. The victim did not provide officers any suspect information or possible motive for the shooting.
Four spent shell casing were located on the ground in the area of 26 Freeland Street. Worcester Police Crime Scene Unit responded to process the scene and collect evidence. Members of the Detective Bureau also responded and attempted to locate and speak with witnesses in the area.
