Three Central MA Men Arraigned in Counterfeit Check Scheme

Wednesday, October 07, 2015

Three men from Worcester, Spencer and North Brookfield were arraigned on Tuesday for being involved in a counterfeit check scheme in which they cashed fake check in six Central Massachusetts cities and towns.

According to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr., Christopher M. Cardinale, 31, of 193 Oakham Road, North Brookfield, and Daniel P. Cronin, 56, of 21 Elbridge St., Worcester, each face 58 charges, including larceny over $250, forgery, uttering and conspiracy.

Bail for Cardinale and Cronin was set at $15,000 cash.

Zachary Millett, 25, of 13 Dale St., Spencer, faces 20 charges. He was released on personal recognizance.

The men cashed 19 checks late last year for a total of $32,701. They did this posing as employees of a fake construction company. The men also used the counterfeit checks to buy equipment and gift cards.

Checks were cashed in Worcester, Northbridge, Shrewsbury, Millbury, Grafton and Gardner.

The defendants were indicted last month by a Grand Jury. All three cases were continued to November 19.
