Two Arrested After Exchanging Gunfire with 3 Men in Worcester

Thursday, November 15, 2018

An 18-year-old woman and another man were arrested in the area of Sterling Street after exchanging gunfire with three other men.

Julianna Morin, 18, and Emmanuel Whyee, 20, were charged with armed assault to murder and appropriate weapons charges. No one involved had a license to carry a firearm.

The investigation is ongoing.

The Incident

On Wednesday, November 14 at about 10:25 a.m., a Worcester Police officer was working an off-duty assignment in the area of Vernon St at Ames St.

He saw a Jeep traveling North from Providence St toward Dorchester St, and saw 3 men walking north on Providence St. The 3 men on foot fired shots at the Jeep, and the officer saw the front passenger, later identified as Emmanuel Whyee, 20, of 39 New Vista Lane, fire back at the men. The three men ran away from the area.

The officer called out his position and followed the Jeep in his personal car. As several marked cruisers responded, the officer followed the Jeep to the area of Sterling St. The marked cruisers caught up to the vehicle and conducted a felony stop.

The driver of the jeep, Julianna Morin, 18, of Millbury, was removed with the passenger. A search of the jeep produced a loaded handgun in the backseat. The driver and passenger were placed under arrest and charged with armed assault to murder and appropriate weapons charges. No one involved had a license to carry a firearm.

This investigation is ongoing. If anyone has information about this incident, please send an anonymous text to 274637 TIPWPD + your message or send an anonymous web based message by clicking here.
