Two Arrested in Worcester for Trafficking Heroin

Friday, June 09, 2017

Two people were arrested in Worcester for trafficking heroin. The arrests came after a long investigation by Worcester Police and the Worcester Police vice squad.

Reina Garcia, 25, of Worcester was arrested for distribution of a Class A Substance. She was also charged with Possession of Class A Substance with the Intent to Distribute, Conspiracy to Violate Controlled Substance Laws and Trafficking in Heroin (18-36 grams).

James Bishop, 50, of Worcester was arrested and charged with Trafficking in Heroin (18-36 grams) and Conspiracy to Violate Controlled Substance Laws.

The Incident

On Tuesday, June 6, members of the WPD Vice Squad applied for and were granted a search warrant for 6 Jacques Avenue. The target of the warrant was Garcia. The warrant was the result of an ongoing and lengthy drug investigation.

On this day, before the execution of the warrant, Garcia was seen conducting what police believe to be an exchange of money from a man, later identified as Bishop, for heroin.

It is believed during the course of this investigation that Bishop was involved with Garcia in the drug trade business.

Bishop was stopped by Vice officers after Garcia had driven off. Bishop was in possession of 59 half grams of heroin and $453.00 in cash. Bishop was placed under arrest.

Garcia was stopped in her motor vehicle and placed under arrest. At approximately 7:40 p.m., the search warrant was executed. The search produced 17 half grams of heroin and cash. The total amount in cash recovered from both suspects was $4,327.00.
