Miguel Rivera, 40, was placed under arrest and charged with Carrying a Firearm without a License, Possession of a Large Capacity Weapon, Carrying a Loaded Firearm without a License, Possession of Ammunition without an FID Card and Being an Armed Career Criminal with 3 Violent or Drug Convictions.

Sara Ventura, 36, was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of Class B Substance.

The Incident

On Tuesday, March 6,  at approximately 12:38, Worcester Police responded to North Street for a report of a person walking in the middle of the road carrying a gun. Upon the officers arrival they searched the immediate area and could not locate anyone suspicious. At this time the officers exited their cruisers and conducted an extensive search on foot throughout the neighborhood, looking in driveways and yards. After a while officers came upon two people, a man and a woman, sitting in a 2003 Nissan Altima. The car was located by 67 North Street.

Due to the nature of the call, both occupants were removed from the car and searched. The man was identified as Rivera of 31 Joyce Street, Webster; the woman was identified as Ventura of 31 Joyce Street, Webster. The search of Rivera produced a fully loaded Smith and Wesson .40 caliber handgun. The gun was located in his sweatshirt pocket. A search of Ventura produced a small plastic baggie that contained cocaine, a class B substance.

The weapon and narcotics were seized as evidence and secured at police headquarters.

The two were place under arrest.
