Woman dead following motorcycle & car crash on Plantation Street
The woman’s name is being withheld until all proper notifications have been made to family members.
This investigation is in the early stages and will remain active.
No citations have been issued at this time but may change as the investigation progresses.
The Incident
On Tuesday, May 29, at approximately 10:26 a.m., Worcester Police responded to the intersection of Plantation Street and the I-290 westbound on ramp for a serious motorcycle and car crash. Upon the officers arrival they saw a 31-year-old female motorcycle driver suffering from serious injuries. There were several motorists that had stopped at the crash scene trying to render aid to the woman.
The woman was transported to a local hospital and subsequently pronounced deceased shortly after her arrival. The name of the operator The preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcycle, a 2003 Kawasaki ZR 1000, was traveling southbound on Plantation Street when it collided into the passenger side front door of a 2001 Toyota Avalon. The Avalon was being operated by a 79-year-old Worcester resident.
At the time of the collision, the Toyota was traveling north on Plantation Street and was turning left to enter onto the westbound I-290 on ramp.
Investigators interviewed several witnesses at the scene. Investigators processed evidence and eventually towed the Toyota and the motorcycle from the scene. Investigators will conduct full inspections to both vehicles to determine if any mechanical deficiencies may have been a contributing factor leading up to the collision.
