Woman Hit by Truck While Crossing Lincoln Street in Worcester

Friday, February 16, 2018

A woman was hit by a truck while attempting to cross Lincoln St. on Thursday morning.

According to Worcester police, her condition is unknown at this time.

This investigation is in the early stages, to date, there have been no citations issued, however that may change as the investigation moves forward.

The Incident

On Thursday, February 15,  at approximately 8:47 a.m., Worcester Police responded to the area of 587 Lincoln Street for a report of a pedestrian that was struck. Arriving officers observed a 32-year-old woman lying in the roadway bleeding from her head. The officer also observed a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck stopped in the middle of the roadway.

The woman was treated at the scene by Worcester EMS and then transported to a nearby hospital. She was suffering from a head and leg injury.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the woman was walking on Oriel Drive, approaching the intersection of Lincoln Street, started to cross Lincoln Street from east to west when struck by the truck that was traveling south east on Lincoln Street. The pedestrian was near, but not in the crosswalk.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene and spoke with recon investigators.

The truck was secured and towed from the scene. Recon investigators will be seeking a warrant to obtain the Crash Retrieval Database. The truck will then undergo a full mechanical inspection in order to determine if any mechanical deficiencies may have been a contributing factor leading up to the incident.
