Worcester Labor Coalition to Host MayDay Rally for Workers Rights

Saturday, April 25, 2015

On May 1, the Worcester Community Labor Coalition will be holding a rally at the Worcester Memorial Auditorium in support of good local jobs and workers rights.

The Coalition, pointing out that May Day is celebrated across the globe as International Workers' and Immigrants' Day, stated in a press release that the focus will be on the recent sale of the former Worcester Courthouse and asked "With upcoming downtown projects slated to be announced in the coming months the same questions remain: Will there be jobs for our young people? Will there be jobs for members of communities of color? Will we work to ensure that outside developers are creating local jobs for local people?"

The MayDay rally will be held from 4 PM to 6 PM on the stairs of the Auditorium.

"As the economy changes and we see upcoming Worcester development and more and more service jobs, we must stand up for local jobs, jobs for our young people and jobs that allow you to raise your family and create a livelihood." the group's Facebook page read.
