A Worcester livery driver was stabbed in the lower extremity following during a fight with a customer.

Investigators were able to identify a person of interest. A search for the suspect has provided negative results at this time.

The victim is in good condition.

The Incident

On Tuesday, April 3, at approximately 7:35 a.m., Worcester Police responded to the area of 214 East Mountain Street for a reported stabbing of a livery driver. Upon the officers arrival they met with a 22-year-old male victim.

The victim said that he went to the address this morning to pick up a fare. The victim said that the male suspect entered his car and asked to go to a specific address. The victim recognized the suspect from a past unrelated incident approximately one year ago. Once the victim recognized the man he asked him to exit the car and refused to transport him to his destination.

Initially the suspect refused to exit the car. The victim exited the car and opened the rear door and told the man to get out. The man complied but pushed the victim backwards. At this time the two men began to fight. During the fight the driver/victim was stabbed in the lower extremity. After the stabbing, the suspect ran off, last seen on East Mountain Street.

Worcester EMS arrived at the scene and treated the victim and then transported him to a nearby hospital. The victim is in good condition.

Worcester Detectives arrived at the scene and spoke with witnesses as well as canvassed the area.
