Worcester Man Arrested After Assaulting Apartment Residents With Knife

Saturday, August 06, 2016

Ramon Castro, 48, of Worcester was arrested and charged with three counts of assault with a dangerous weapon after he chased three Vernon Street apartment residents with a knife.

The Incident

Worcester Police were sent to a Vernon Street address for a report of an assault with a dangerous weapon. Upon arrival, police talked to several witnesses regarding the incident.

An investigation revealed that the resident of the second floor of the building (later identified as Ramon Castro) had been screaming, banging on the walls of his apartment and throwing his belongings out of his window into his backyard.

A 58-year-old female resident of the third floor apartment tried to go down to the first floor and call the police. When she did, Castro exited his apartment with a knife in hand and chased the her. The victim was able to safely enter the first floor apartment and call police. Castro went back to his apartment at this time. A 23-year-old male resident of the third floor apartment then attempted to check on the female victim. Castro again left his apartment with a knife in his hand and started chasing the man down the stairs to the first floor.

The man ran to the front porch of the building with Castro chasing him. Once on the porch, Castro encountered a 15 year old juvenile man. Castro stared at the male victim in a threatening manner while holding the knife, causing the victim to fear for his safety. Prior the arrival of police, Castro returned to his second floor apartment.

The police went to the second floor and located Castro. He was placed under arrest without incident and is being charged with three counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon.
