Worcester Man Arrested After Assaulting Blind Person

Nathan Carreau, 32, was arrested and charged with unarmed robbery and assault and battery on a disabled person.
The Incident
On Sunday, February 3 at about 3:30 p.m., Worcester Police officers responded to the area of Foster and Mercantile St for a report of a blind person being attacked.
Upon arrival, officers observed a blind male with broken glasses, a ripped shirt, and blood coming from two large cuts above his eye. He said that he was legally blind and needed help finding his cane.
The victim said that someone took two twenty-dollar-bills out of his hand and hit him several times before running away. Officers observed a photo of the suspect taken during the assault.
Officers spoke with witnesses, who described the suspect as a 5’7” white man with light brown hair and a beard.
Another officer in the area of St. Vincent’s Hospital saw someone, later identified as Carreau of Worcester, who matched the description given.
Worcester officers spoke with St. Vincent’s Hospital Police and watched video surveillance footage.
After watching the footage, the officers developed probable cause and arrested Carreau.
The victim was treated by paramedics for his injuries.
