Worcester Man Arrested After Breaking Into Two Cars at Franklin Auto Sales

A Worcester man was arrested after breaking into two cars at the Franklin Auto Sales on Hermon Street.

Worcester police were able to identify the man as Jose Roman using surveillance video.

Roman, 42, of Worcester charged with Malicious Destruction of Property over the Value of $250.00, Breaking and Entering into a Motor Vehicle in the Nighttime with the Intent to Commit a Felony and Larceny from a Motor Vehicle over the Value of $250.00.

The video will not be released.

The Incident

On Monday, November 27, at approximately 8:45 a.m., Worcester Police responded to 38 Hermon Street, Franklin Auto Sales, for a report of a larceny from a motor vehicle. Upon the officers arrival they met with the owner of the business. The officers were told that two vehicles that were on his lot were broken into sometime over the weekend. The officers were told that the incident was captured on his security camera and had video of the incident.

Officers reviewed the video and observed a Spanish man, approximately 35-years-old, bald, wearing a blue puffy jacket smash out the windows of the carss with a rock. Once inside the suspect took out the stereo systems. The incident occurred at about 4:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 25. Both cars were inside a locked fenced in area.

The officers filed a police report and took possession of the video tape to be forwarded to the Detective Bureau.

At approximately 11:28 a.m., the same officers responded to Compare Foods to meet with the owner of Franklin Auto Sales. Upon arrival the officers were told that he may have located the suspect of the motor breaks. The officers walked behind Compare Foods and observed a male that fit the description of the suspect. The man was also wearing the same blue puffy jacket that was seen in the video.

Officers approached the male and identified him as Roman. After a brief conversation Roman was placed under arrest.
