Worcester Man Arrested After Driving Car at Firefighters

Tuesday, September 04, 2018

A Worcester man was arrested after driving his car at firefighters and EMS on Sunday.

Kristopher Nater, 29, was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (motor vehicle), hindering a firefighter in the performance of duty, operating to endanger,  and operating after suspension of license

The Incident

On Sunday, September 2 at about 5 p.m., Worcester Police were dispatched to the area of 765 Main St to assist Worcester Fire and EMS for a medical call. Upon arrival, Firefighters on scene told the officer that one of them had just been struck by a vehicle on Beacon St. The Firefighters had been dispatched for a report of a male passed out behind the wheel, and the male, later identified as Nater of 14 Tower St #1, woke up and saw the firefighters walking toward him. He stepped on the gas of the car and drove directly at them. In fear for their lives, the two Firefighters jumped out of the way, but one of them was struck by the side of the car. Nater did not stop and continued down Hermon St toward Main St.

Officers located Nater outside his blue Toyota Camry on Main St. Nater had an active warrant and did not have a license to operate a motor vehicle. He was placed under arrest.
