Fight at Worcester Strip Club Leads to Assault Charges
Tuesday, November 22, 2016
Juan Rodriguez, 26, of Worcester was arrested and charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.
The Incident
On Sunday, November 20 at approximately 12:45 AM, a Worcester Police officer was working a paid detail at the Centerfolds Club located at 229 Southwest Cutoff. While working inside the building, the officer was approached by a person who informed the officer that several men were engaged in an fight outside in the parking lot. The officer left the building and saw a group of 6-8 men engaged in a fight.
As the officer approached the group to break up the fight, he saw Rodriguez swing a glass beer bottle at a 19 year old man, striking the victim in the head and causing him to fall to the ground. After striking the victim, Rodriguez began walking away from the area. The officer approached Rodriguez and grabbed onto him, but Rodriguez pulled away from the officer’s grasp and began running east on Route 20.
The officer called out with a description of the suspect and also requested an ambulance to his location. Paramedics arrived on scene and treated the victim for a laceration to his face caused by the beer bottle. The victim was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
Officers checking the area located a man matching the suspect description a short distance away at 187 Southwest Cutoff (the Lamplighter Lounge). The officer who initially witnessed the assault responded to that location and positively identified Rodriguez as the man who struck the victim with a beer bottle.
Rodriguez was placed under arrest.
