Worcester Man Arrested After Robbing Crates to Credenzas in Worcester

Wednesday, December 21, 2016

A Worcester man was arrested after robbing the Crates to Credenzas on 100 Barber Ave in Worcester and then attempting to cash a business check at the Commerce Bank on Lincoln Street.

Donald Baukman, 29, breaking and entering in the daytime for a felony, receiving stolen property over $250, and uttering a false instrument.

The Incident

On Monday, December 19, at approximately 11:30 a.m., police were sent to a business (Crates to Credenzas) located at 100 Barber Ave for a report of a past commercial break at that address. Upon arrival, officers were met with the owner of the business who told officers that someone had broken into his business at some time during Sunday afternoon. The suspect stole several power tools during the break valued at more than $250. The suspect also unsuccessfully attempted to gain access to a safe that was located in the business.

At approximately 1:30 p.m., Worcester Police Detectives were still on scene investigating the break and viewing store surveillance videos when the business owner was contacted by Commerce Bank located at 451 Lincoln Street. The store owner was informed by the bank that a man was currently inside the bank attempting to cash a business check from Crates to Credenzas.

Worcester Police responded to the bank to locate him. Prior to police arriving, the man fled the bank on foot. Police began checking the area and located him at a bus stop at 440 Lincoln Street. He was identified as Donald Baukman. Based on surveillance video at both the bank and 100 Barber Ave., police were able to determine that Baukman was the man who broke into Crates and Credenzas and attempted to cash a check stolen from that business at Commerce Bank.
