Worcester Man Arrested Following Fight, Gunshots on Granite Street

Jose Villanueva, 29, was charged with possession of class B substance.
The Investigation is ongoing.
The Incident
On Sunday, April 2, at approximately 3:36 a.m., Worcester Police responded to a ShotSpotter activation for the area of 133 Granite Street. Several officers responded to the location. One of the first officers to arrive saw several cars parked in the area of 100 Granite Street. There were several people outside the Granite Street address.
Arriving officers encountered a man that lives at 100 Granite Street. The maln had a swollen face that indicated to the officers that he was just involved in a fight. At this time one officer saw a red colored car leave the scene at a high rate of speed. The officer got back into his cruiser and followed the car. The officer signaled the car to pull over in the area of 211 Granite Street.
The car was occupied by the driver only.
The officer ordered the driver to exit the car. A search of the driver produced two small bags of cocaine.
The driver, identified as Villanueva was placed under arrest without incident and charged with possession of class B substance.http://worcesterma.gov/police Villanueva was transported to police headquarters for processing.
Officers at the scene interviewed several people that remained in the apartment. According to witnesses, there was a gathering at the apartment after the bars closed early this morning. There were several people inside the apartment. Apparently a fight broke out inside the apartment. The resident of the apartment attempted to break up the fight. The resident ended up on the floor where he was punched and kicked in the face.
During the disturbance a shot rang out from inside the apartment. At this time several people began to leave. While outside, the suspect fired several more rounds before leaving the area.
Officers at the scene saw blood inside the apartment but were unsure if anyone was hit from the gunfire. Officers observed a large broken mirror on the floor. One man had a substantial injury to his thumb that he believes he received from the broken mirror.
WPD detectives arrived at the scene along with members of the Crime Scene Unit. Whiteness were interviewed while evidence was collected.
Police contacted local hospitals to see if anyone one had arrived with gunshot wounds. All local hospitals checked out negative.
