The Incident

On Saturday, December 1, 2018, at approximately 2:34 AM, Worcester Police responded to a Shotspotter activation for the area of Richards Street. While responding to the area a second Shotspotter activation was received for Crystal Street.

One of the responding officers was approaching Gates Street when he observed a red Toyota Rav 4 on Gates Street, heading towards Main Street, driving a high rate of speed. The officer was aware that a red Toyota Rav 4 was suspected in three other shots fired incidents over the past two months.

Upon seeing the Toyota, the officer called in for back-up and signaled the suspect vehicle to stop in front of 20 Gates Street.

Several officers were now on the scene. Officers ordered the driver out of the vehicle. The driver was identified as Rosario of 5 Eureka Terrace. When asked if he had any weapons in his possession, Rosario stated that he had a handgun located in the center console of his vehicle. The weapon is a Ruger 9MM. The weapon was secured as evidence.

A search also produced a plastic baggie that contained 8 individual wrapped baggies that contained crack cocaine. The crack cocaine was packaged for street level sales.  Rosario was also in possession of $530.00 in cash. The drugs, money and firearm were confiscated and secured as evidence.
