Worcester Man Arrested for Park Ave Robbery and Car Break-In

Friday, February 10, 2017

A Worcester man was arrested in connection with a robbery and a car break-in that took place on February 2.

Javier Pagan-Rivera, 20, of Worcester is being charged with armed robbery, unarmed robbery, and breaking into a depository.

The Incident

On February 2, Worcester Police responded to 372 Park Ave (National Glass) for a report of an assault with a dangerous weapon. The investigation revealed that an unknown man had broken into a car in the lot at that location. When confronted by employees, the man brandished a knife before fleeing on foot. While still in the area investigating car break, police received a report of an unarmed robbery at a nearby Walgreen’s. Police were informed that an unknown man had entered the store and forcefully stole $20 from a customer before fleeing on foot.

Based on information received, police determined that the same individual had committed both crimes.

After an investigation, Worcester Police Detectives were able to identify the suspect in the two incidents as Pagan-Rivera. Armed with a warrant for his arrest on the charges of larceny from a person and B/E daytime for a felony, Worcester Police Detectives assigned to the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force along with members of the Massachusetts State Police VFAS Unit went to 1002 Main Street to locate Pagan-Rivera. Officers were allowed entry into the apartment and located Pagan-Rivera in the living room.

He was placed under arrest without incident.
