The Incident
On February 25, Worcester Police responded to an address on Chilmark Street for a report of a loud fight. Once the officers arrived, they heard a struggle, and a man, later identified as Jackson, prevented the officers from entering the apartment. As he tried to push them back, Jackson reached for what officers observed to be a pocket knife in his pocket.
Officers grabbed him to keep him from reaching the knife. During the struggle, Jackson tried to pull away from the officers and reached for his waistband on the other side. Officers observed a small black firearm in his waistband, and tried to prevent him from reaching it. The officers were able to hold his arms away from his body and place him in handcuffs.
Jackson does not have a license to carry firearms.
After recovering the black handgun and determining that Jackson did not have a license to carry firearms, officers applied for a search warrant for the apartment.
After executing the warrant, officers recovered a large amount of what appeared to be crack cocaine, Oxycodone pills, a rifle with a scope, multiple ammunition magazines, a 9mm handgun, a .38 special revolver, several small plastic bags, and a digital scale, in addition to the firearm in Jackson’s waistband. None of the firearms were in locked containers or secured in any way.
