Worcester Man Arrested for Robbing Family Dollar Store With Knife

A Worcester man was arrested after robbing the Family Dollar store on Chandler street and threatening the employees with a knife. 

Angel Lopez-Ramos, 43, is charged with armed robbery, possession of a class B substance, and Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon.

He will be arraigned at the Worcester County District Courthouse on Monday, May 1. 

The Incident 

On Friday, April 28, at approximately 12:42 p.m., Worcester Police received a call from Family Dollar employees at 205 Chandler St. They said that a man had just been caught shoplifting from the store. When confronted by employees, he began to physically fight with them. During the fight, the suspect pulled out a knife and threatened them with it. He fled the area.

A description of the man was broadcast over the radio. The man, later identified as Lopez-Ramos, of 25 Queen St, was stopped in the area by police. 

He was identified by the victims and placed under arrest. 

Upon searching him incident to arrest, officers discovered a small bag of what appeared to be crack cocaine, a folding knife, and the stolen items from the store.
