A man has been arrested in connection with the shooting on Country Club Blvd that took place on Sunday, May 7.

Jesse Ababio, 22, of Worcester was arrested inside his apartment for discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, attempted assault and battery with a firearm, armed assault with intent to murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, carrying a loaded firearm without a LTC, possession of a firearm without an FID, and carrying a firearm without a license.

Ababio had an active warrant out for his arrest.

The investigation is still ongoing.

Original Incident

As GoLocal reported, on Sunday, May 7  at approximately 2:00 p.m., police were sent to 102 Country Club Blvd for reported gunshots. Callers said that they heard what sounded like two gunshots, followed by three more shots. After officers arrived, they were flagged down by a woman inside the building. The woman brought them to an apartment, where officers saw a 20-year-old woman laying on the ground with a single gunshot wound to her leg.

The victim said that she was with two friends outside the building when a man approached them and began firing a gun at them. She said she did not recognize the suspect, whom she described as a black man with dreadlocks. The victim was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Witnesses stated that the suspect fled the scene by car. Officers found shell casings and other physical evidence related to the shooting.
