Valerio walked up the stairs to a Laurel Street apartment building and entered the common entrance way to the building. The officer called for a backup to cover the rear door.
Officers entered the building and proceeded to climb the common hallway stairwell. Officers reached the third floor when they came across Valerio as he was walking down from the above floor.
Valerio was very nervous when he encountered the officers. Officers asked who he was visiting and in what apartment. Valerio could not provide a name.
The Arrest
Police arrest Valerio for trespassing. Officers proceeded to search the above stairwell to see if anyone else was hiding where he had just came from. The stairwell was clear of any persons. As the officer approached the last landing he saw a lump under the doormat in front of an apartment.
