Worcester Man Caught Breaking into Home by Off-Duty Officer

Juan Flores, 38, of Worcester has been charged with armed assault in Dwelling, carrying a dangerous weapon, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, breaking and entering during the daytime with intent to commit a felony.
The Incident
An off-duty Worcester police officer noticed Flores riding a bike in his neighborhood. The officer observed Flores drive the bike onto a lawn on Wildwood drive and walk to the rear of the house.
The officer alerted the homeowner and the two walked to the rear of the house. They observed a smashed window.
The homeowner opened the door to the home and observed Flores in his hallway. Flores ran toward the homeowner with an open folding knife. The homeowner and officer struggled with the suspect and it continued outside of the home.
Additional officers arrived at the scene and apprehended Flores.
