The Incident
Worcester police responded to the area of North Ashland Street to investigate a report of two men who were acting suspicious. The responding officer was informed that two men were seen attempting to break into several parked cars.
Arriving officers met a witness that was nearby. The witness said that the men were seen pulling on door handles to several parked cars on Williams Street and on North Ashland Street. The cars all appeared to be locked and the men were last seen walking towards Highland Street.
The officers were given with a detailed description of the two men. Police encountered the two on nearby Home Street. The clothing description was a match. Officers also noticed that the two men were each wearing latex gloves. Officers transported the witness to the location that the men were stopped. The witness identified the two as the men seen trying to gain access to the cars.
The men were placed under arrest. The first suspect was identified as a 17-year-old Worcester resident while the second suspect was identified as Gyovanny Colon, 18-years-old of 14 Burton Court, Worcester. A search of the juvenile produced a knife that was hidden in the crotch area while the search of Colon produced a screw-driver in his pocket.
Both suspects were charged with being in Possession of a Burglarious Instrument and Attempting to Commit a Crime (B&E in a MV). Mr. Colon also had an outstanding arrest warrant for motor vehicle offenses.
