Worcester Man Tracked Down by Police K9, Charged With Burglary

Worcester Police have located and charged 54 year old John Benoit of Worcester with unarmed burglary and larceny in a building after police along with K9 Elmar, who tracked him to an apartment complex located at 39 First Street.

The Incident

On October 1st at approximately 11:30 p.m., Worcester police were sent to a house on First Street for a report of a breaking and entering. Once Police arrived, officers spoke with a female victim who said that she entered her residence and found a male suspect in her living room. The male fled the area with the victim's prescription medication.

The officers believed that the suspect gained entry to the house through a window.

The victim further reported to police that the male suspect was the same person that she had met at a restaurant earlier in the evening. The suspect engaged in a conversation with the victim and asked her personal questions.

Worcester police K9, Elmar arrived on scene and tracked the suspect’s scent to an apartment complex located at 39 First Street.

Officers conducted an investigation and identified the suspect as 54-year-old John Benoit of 39 First Street. On Thursday, October 22, 2015 Mr. Benoit was located and placed under arrest.
