Worcester Police Investigating 2 Males Shot on Friday Afternoon

Worcester Police are are investigating two men shot on Hamilton Street on Friday, April 15 at approximately 3:09 p.m. Both men were taken to the hospital and are expected to survive from their injuries. 

The Incidents 

Multiple officers responded to the area of 105 Hamilton Street for a shotspotter gun detection activation. Upon arrival, officers observed a large crowd outside a barbershop. 

A 27-year-old male was on the ground suffering from serious gunshot wounds. The male was treated at the scene and transported to a nearby hospital. 

Another officer at the scene observed a black vehicle leaving the scene at a high rate of speed. The officer suspected that this vehicle was involved in the shooting and followed it. The officer called out that he was behind a vehicle that was traveling at a high rate of speed. The officer drove dirtily to a city hospital. 

Inside the vehicle was a second shooting victim, a 24 year old male was suffering from a single gunshot wound to his lower extremity. He was in the vehicle with three of his friends. 

Detectives Come to Hospital 

Police detectives responded to the scene and at the emergency room of the hospital. The 27 year old victim was taken into emergency surgery and is listed in critical condition but is expected to survive. 

The detectives attempted to speak with the 24 year old victim but he refused to cooperate. He is in stable condition with non life threaten injuries. 

Detectives attempted to interview the three friends that drove the victim but they refused to cooperate. 

The scene was process for evidence. The black vehicle that transported the victim to the hospital was impounded and towed to police headquarters. 

A search warrant will be sought for the vehicle. 

Police Asking for Help 

Police investigators are working on a motive and the circumstances leading up to the shooting. They are also working on trying o identify the shooter or shooters.
