Worcester Public Schools announced this afternoon that there will be no school on Thursday, January 8 due to dangerous weather conditions.
As GoLocal Worcester reported on Tuesday, temperatures will drop dangerously low around rush hour today and will continue overnight into Thursday afternoon.
The National Weather Advisory is in effect from Wednesday, January 7 at 6 PM until Thursday, January 8 at 10 AM.
The Worcester Public Schools announced on Wednesday: "The National Weather Service forecast is for bitterly cold wind chills that are expected to begin Wednesday night and remain into Thursday morning. The Wind Chill Warning is in effect in the Worcester area from 5 pm on Wednesday afternoon to 10 am Thursday. The forecast calls for dangerously cold wind chill values with readings as low as 30 below. These dangerously cold wind chills will result in Frostbite or hypothermia if precautions are not taken. A wind chill index below -30 can bring about frostbite in as little as 10 minutes. Outdoor exposure time should be limited in these conditions."

Ski Ward

Mount Snow

Grafton Ponds
Although there is only one snow tubing lane at Grafton Ponds Outdoor Center, it will be worth the wait to take the ride down the hill. The lane is 600 feet long, one of the longest in New England. Their special snowmaking process ensures perfect conditions all winter long.
